SO’s founders had already developed the system for the site; they needed some help with the user interface design.

The site design is very basic, making the process of asking, finding, and answering questions quick and simple. The interface is focused on helping users identify questions based on their popularity and activity, and helps recognize users by the quality of their contributions.
