The EAST Initiative is a nonprofit organization that brings technology-based service learning to students across America. EAST allows schools to obtain hardware and software at reduced rates, and students then utilize this technology to plan and execute service projects in their communities.

EAST needed a web application to connect students, teachers, school administrators, industry partners, and vendors from around the world. The site needed to feature news updates and announcements, event management and registration, online tutorials, forums, user account management, and much more. Since EAST’s model is so different from other educational institutions, they were unable to find an out-of-the-box solution that would solve their problems.

Production included the development of many custom applications, tied together with a simple site structure and content hierarchy. The system currently manages interaction among over 10,000 active users in over 200 campuses.
